Bartlesville, OK- The Topeka Police Department (Kansas) Cadets competed this past weekend in the Bartlesville Xtreme 2010 Law Enforcement Explorer Competition. Bartlesville Xtreme is an overnight advanced skills competition that not only requires the Explorer teams to demonstrate their ability to handle law enforcement scenarios but also requires them to communicate their actions with a dispatcher and to navigate their way around town. The competition was attended by teams from across Oklahoma and Kansas.
A long, tiresome night of competition was rewarded in the early morning hours when during the awards ceremony the Topeka Police Department Cadets were awarded first, second, or third place in 15 of the 20 events they competed in and the Topeka Police Cadets recieved Bartlesville Xtreme's overall champion award.
Congratulations to the Topeka Police Cadets who competed, their teammates back in Topeka, the Cadet advisers, and the Topeka Police Department on their accomplishments at Bartlesville Xtreme 2010.

With January 1st just around the corner it will soon be time for us to bid farewell to Cadet Major Adam Kary and Cadet Lieutenant Jacob Gardner who will have maxed out their eligibility.
Both Kary and Gardner spent many years with the cadet program and we wish them the best of luck as they proceed through the TPD Officer hiring process. We will hold a "retirement" ceremony for Kary and Gardner on December 13, 2010.
The vacancies of the posts two most senior leadership positions will be filled using a process designated by the Advisers. Stay tuned for details of when we will begin this process.
Until the positions have been filled Cadet Sergeant Alison Adams will serve as the interim post commander.
